CURATOR'S NOTE
The Yadana Halter Dress, made in hand-screen-printed cotton silk, celebrates thoughtful design and effortless elegance. A quilted yoke with subtle hand-beaded accents anchors the silhouette, while soft godets and gathers allow the fabric to cascade fluidly over the body. Front buttons add subtle detail, and every element has been crafted with hours of careful labour. This versatile dress combines artistry, comfort, and timeless sophistication, perfect for understated occasions.
Note: The occasional irregularity in color, shade and print are characteristic of the hand made process. Each and every piece is as individual and distinct as you are. They are not to be treated as defects.
THE DESIGNER STORY
Inspired by the Japanese ideology of wabi-sabi, referring to that which is imperfect, impermanent, aged, humble and authentic, Ahmev carries an aesthetic that embraces the value of the passing of time, the seasoning of time and the elements, the handmade and the simple. Wabi-sabi is a way of being open to emotions and of acceptance; a state of mind and a state of feeling. The philosophy of wabi sabi is embodied in the design process, being showcased in the finished designs through the subtle hues, natural materials, frayed edges and the visible stitching and asymmetry.
