CURATOR'S NOTE
The Khin Yoke Top is a study in refined artistry. Intricate smocking adorns the yoke, while delicate bindings trace the neckline and front opening, accented with tie-ups finished with handmade tassels. Sheer organza sleeves echo this elegance, also finished with playful tie-ups. Flowing into a soft, flattering silhouette, the top drapes effortlessly, seamlessly transitioning from day to evening. Every stitch and embellishment has been executed with meticulous care, reflecting hours of labour and artisanal skill. It is lined with cotton.
Techniques Used: Hand- screen printing. Embroidered Lace Yoke.
Note: The occasional irregularity in color, shade and print are characteristic of the hand made process. Each and every piece is as individual and distinct as you are. They are not to be treated as defects.
THE DESIGNER STORY
Inspired by the Japanese ideology of wabi-sabi, referring to that which is imperfect, impermanent, aged, humble and authentic, Ahmev carries an aesthetic that embraces the value of the passing of time, the seasoning of time and the elements, the handmade and the simple. Wabi-sabi is a way of being open to emotions and of acceptance; a state of mind and a state of feeling. The philosophy of wabi sabi is embodied in the design process, being showcased in the finished designs through the subtle hues, natural materials, frayed edges and the visible stitching and asymmetry.
