The Midori Dress is a harmonious blend of texture and detail, crafted from a striking mix of smooth plain Chanderi and striped Chanderi panels. Its long silhouette flows effortlessly. Rendered in a soft ivory hue, this piece is crafted from lightweight cotton silk and thoughtfully lined with cotton for all-day ease. The surface is screen printed by hand, showcasing subtle artistry across the fabric. A gently structured yoke with buttons adds definition, while stripe bindings trace the seams for a refined finish. Completed with delicate Mother of Pearl (MOP) buttons and side pockets for understated functionality, this silhouette is a quiet celebration of craft and detail.
THE DESIGNER STORY
Inspired by the Japanese ideology of wabi-sabi, referring to that which is imperfect, impermanent, aged, humble and authentic, Ahmev carries an aesthetic that embraces the value of the passing of time, the seasoning of time and the elements, the handmade and the simple. Wabi-sabi is a way of being open to emotions and of acceptance; a state of mind and a state of feeling. The philosophy of wabi sabi is embodied in the design process, being showcased in the finished designs through the subtle hues, natural materials, frayed edges and the visible stitching and asymmetry.
