THE DESIGNER STORY
Jinal is a sculptor from India. With an interest in various mediums, she is currently exploring ‘the idea of adornment’ in relation with ‘form’ as a ‘body’ and its transformation. Be it ‘skin’, ‘metal’ or ‘weather’, encourages her to communicate the sentimental potency of objects. Under the brand ‘Dookdi’ she makes wearable pieces inspired from moths/insects with an inclination towards slight distortions celebrating the duality of existence itself. The process of making different creatures out of metal sheets paved a way into a meditative process of abstraction that took a life of its own, turning these obsessions into an expression of the subtlety and oddity of human feelings.
