100% silk bandhani black current jumpsuit with green belt
The designer story
This collection brought with it our tryst with a craft that has long enthralled us and many before us. A collaboration with Paramparik for Lakme Fashion Week, AW17 by The Pot Plant will witness a seamless blend of this traditional craft of Bandhani with our gender fluid aesthetics.
We have tried to explore the contemporary patterns in Bandhani besides the traditional designs. The fabrics used have distinctive negative & positive patterns for a statement and a one of a kind look.
Bandhani is one of our favourite crafts. It involves technical knowledge and involvement at every step. From selecting the right fabric to timing it just right to create that tie and dye pattern, it requires a lot of precision. Over the many decades that this craft has existed, it has been pruned and perfected by master craftsmen. The fabric is first washed to remove dirt and other impurities that might prevent the colour from attaching to the yarn. The fabric is then dried and tied intricately with threads as per the pattern. This tied fabric is then dyed and left to dry. The threads are then removed to unveil the beautiful pattern!
‘The Pot Plant’ is about a hundred such stories lived and experienced by people born in the non-mechanized era. Of making ends meet and living consciously. The label represents a lifestyle of sustainable means and Eco living.
The fabrics are natural and the garments have been crafted to bring back the age-old charm of natural fabrics, great weaves and comfy clothing with heck loads of margins!
