Hand knitted in wardh and naturally dyed and printed in bagru, this all season sweatshirt is a tribute to the 1100 people that were trapped and killed, making clothes at Rana Plaza in Bangladesh. The sweatshirt is made with 100% desi vidarbha cotton.
THE DESIGNER STORY
A young clothing brand based in Jaipur, Rias is more than just a label. Focusing on two ancient crafts of India, DABU AND BLOCK PRINTING, it is a cocktail of ancient printing techniques of Rajasthan. An attempt to keep these crafts alive, Rias is a bridge between the craftsmen’s’ skills and modern designs. The Brand's aim is to innovate and create new and striking outfits, using a combination of old techniques and modern design skills to fit in mainstream fashion. Everything from the fibers used, to the end fabric is handmade and void of any machine work. The handspun khadi and hand block printing provides employment to a large number of people in various villages of West Bengal and Rajasthan, which in turn ensures a better standard of living for those involved. The finished products are completely sustainable, made in India, by India and are eco-friendly.
Farak is a concept close to our heart - It is inspired by thousands of stories which are unheard of and have gotten lost with time. At Rias Jaipur, we have decided to keep this category live with us, all year long. It will have collections inspired by different stories of people around the world making some difference and would educate us all, helping artisans and us build new ways of learning and moving forward together. We strongly believe that progress and success are always together, not just alone.
A series of sweatshirts and joggers made from 100% desi (local) cotton cultivated, hand-knitted and woven by farmers and craftspeople from Vidarbha, Wardha and Murshidabad. In this collection, each garment has been inspired by a struggle of a farmer / a worker / an artisan and tells their story. It comes with a scannable QR Code that can be used to educate ourselves and those around us. Each garment is an expression of our emotions, that we care about the farmers and their happiness, and that their story affects us. Today, we only want to say one thing to every farmer artisan - #humeinfarakpadtahai (It makes a difference to us!)
